Since its inception, the main goals of MESOT have been to promote and encourage education, research and cooperation in the field of organ transplantation between medical centers nationally and within the Middle East and also, to create a scientific forum for discussion of all problems related to the field of transplantation.

Until today, MESOT has collaborated closely with other national and community-based institutions that share similar visions for transplantation. The society has made major strides working with government authorities and the mass media to raise public awareness about the benefits of transplantation. In addition, its members have organized numerous campaigns and conferences to promote organ donation.

As the affiliated society of The Transplantation Society, it has been a long goal of our society to create an educational and training platform that would benefit the members and trainee-fellows. Our sincere appreciation goes to all the 17th MESOT 2021 speakers who had contributed to the congress, to TTS President Dr. Marcelo Cantarovich and his TTS Technologies team, lead by Mr. Roberto Colarusso, for making this possible.

Antoine Barbari

MESOT President

DEAR COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

As President of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation (MESOT), it is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to participate in this 17th MESOT Congress that is held in the great city of Amman, Jordan. Hosting this MESOT congress in Amman despite all the difficult and unfortunate events that we have been experiencing throughout the pandemic, reflects the commitment and dedication of our Jordanian colleagues to maintaining high academic levels and quality patient care that are in line with international standards.

The Scientific Committee worked very hard to elaborate a well balanced scientific program that covers the most important and challenging issues in the fields of organ donation and transplantation that are of particular interest for our region, namely during this Corona Pandemic.

I hope that this meeting will offer participants an exciting and rich scientific program that will represent a great and unique opportunity to exchange new ideas, discuss the new challenges to be faced in the coming times and discover the emerging evidence from the ongoing progress of the corona pandemic and its impact in the fields of both organ donation and transplantation.

Many thanks to Professor Mehmet Haberal for the tremendous and unconditional logistic support he has provided, as well as to the local organizers represented by Professor Mohamad Ghnaimat.

Finally I want to thank every organizer and participant, for every effort they put in,no matter how minute it is. It is through your precious and generous contributionthat you will make this Congress a big success.

Wishing you all a fruitful and pleasurable meeting.

God bless you all

Marcelo Cantarovich
